Asia is experiencing persistent and 'unusual' climate-induced warming, with six out of 11 cities enduring significant heat influenced by climate change. The prolonged impact of climate change is raising concerns, highlighting the region's vulnerability to environmental shifts. Additionally, Sri Lanka, despite being highly vulnerable to climate risk, faces challenges in accessing climate funding due to issues such as inadequate data systems and limited capacity for project implementation. This leaves communities in Sri Lanka exposed to climate-related risks without adequate support. Furthermore, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network's (SDSN) review found that there is a need for more flexible Scope 3 reporting and relaxed rules for lower-income companies to make further progress in achieving climate goals. The proposed separation of Scope 1 and 2 reporting and emphasis on using cleaner energy by 2040 are notable steps aimed at promoting sustainable practices across various business sectors.
